After a year of using my own dry hair tips, my hair started to flourish

A few years ago, my hair was so dry and brittle that I thought if I were to light a match near my head, my hair would catch fire. LOL! But seriously, it felt so terrible and was breaking at an alarming speed. That’s when I knew I had to do something to fix my dry, damaged hair before I went bald. I did a little research and discovered “moisturizing and sealing” – a dry hair remedy and moisturizing technique that I know will help you so much.

What’s Moisturizing and Sealing?

Moisturizing and sealing your hair is a technique where you apply a hair moisturizer or leave-in conditioner to your hair and then “seal” it with oil. This provides deep moisture and hydration and the oil seals in all of that goodness.

The Technique

To moisturize and seal:

  • Section off your hair. I like to twist my hair into about six sections.
  • Take your favourite hair moisturizer or leave-in conditioner and apply a healthy amount to each section (don’t apply so much that it’s soaking wet – just make sure each section has been covered).
  • Add a few drops of your favourite oil to the palms of your hand, and apply after the moisturizer.
  • Watch the video above to see exactly how I use this technique on my own hair. You can also watch the video here.

With regular moisturizing and sealing, broken hair was a thing of the past

After you apply those products to your hair, whip your hair up into a protective style like a bun, knots or braids.

DO NOT use wet and heavy products on silk pressed or flat-ironed hair. It will ruin the look! The wetness of the products will cause natural hair to revert to kinky/coily/curly and/or cause your relaxed, flat-ironed hair to look damp, limp and frizzy.

These are the products that I like to use:

Bonus Tip!

Moisturize and seal your hair at night. This will allow the products to best work their magic. You will wake up with baby soft hair!

I hope this tip helps you get soft and manageable hair. It really worked for me!
