On a recent makeup buying frenzy, I thought I’d check out Lancôme to see what’s new. Actually, Lupita Nyongo’s gorgeous smile and fabulous feather dress caught my eye and her gravitational pull guided me into her orbit.
A beautiful array of Juicy Shakers were on display looking like fruity candies. I was intrigued! As I picked one up and looked closely, it dawned on me finally why Lancôme named them “Juicy Shakers” – they are shaped like cocktail shakers!
I picked out Berry In Love, a bright and fun pinky violet colour that smelled like berry fruit punch, only because it was the colour Lupita was wearing (also, I was getting hangry and didn’t bother to try it on). As I prepared to pay, I was struck by the beauty associate’s bright pink blush that was expertly blended. He explained to me in an excited whirlwind that he was wearing Lancôme’s new Cushion Blush Subtil in Sparkling Framboise. It was GORGEOUS on him. I bought that too.
I got home and eagerly tried on my little Lancôme haul. Thankfully, they both looked totally beautiful! How had I not heard of these products before? A light internet search turned up pages and pages of glowing reviews. Looked like I stumbled upon a couple of complete beauty scores.
Juicy Shakers seem to be “the child” of the extremely popular Lancôme Juicy Tubes. Let me tell you…I was a die-hard fan of Juicy Tubes. I had about 20 of them. I remember having a Pinot Grigio-induced breakdown at a music festival when I lost my tube of Marshmallow Electro – the most wonderfully marshmallow-scented lip gloss ever made (it had an opalescent sheen that flattered everyone). Sigh. The only problem with Juicy Tubes was the fact that they had the consistency of viscous glue and my long hair would always get stuck to my lips. Never a good look (their shine was unbeatable, though).
Thankfully, these Juicy Shakers are lip oils – the current darling of the beauty industry. Light and super moisturizing, I feel Lancôme has perfected the lip gloss. Juicy Shakers are formulated with five highly moisturizing oils such as sweet almond oil (conditioning), cranberry oil (great anti-oxidant), peach kernel oil (ultra emollient), musk rose oils (rich in essential fatty acids = soothing) and hydrating apricot oil.
The texture is smooth and silky and completely devoid of any waxy feeling. The colour is bright and true, but they do not stain like YSL’s Volupté Tint-In-Oil. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. I don’t mind. What’s most fun about this product is the packaging and applicator! Just give the Juicy Shaker a good shake, unscrew the top, and apply to your lips with the sponge applicator! I dab the applicator on my lips and it deposits a beautiful wash of colour. It almost feels like you are applying the oil with a soft gummy bear. Trust me…it’s good! Now, the colour is quite sheer, but it is buildable.
The Sephora site lists about 9 colours, but apparently there are 20 shades available world wide – including a sparkling light blue shade called “Mint To Be” whose colour changes according to your mood! That one though seems hard to track down though.
Now, the Cushion Blush Subtil is lovely! Housed in a beautiful jet black compact with mirror, this blush features a sponge applicator. While the compact comes with a cushiony applicator, I mostly apply with my fingers to perfect the buildable colour I like. I feel this blush is also best applied with a brush or Beauty Blender. As mentioned, I picked up the Sparkling Framboise colour which is a rich, almost coral-y pink. This colour pops beautifully on dark skin and gives me that doll-like look I’m always chasing after. Now this blush has no sparkle or shimmer, but has a beautiful depth to it that does not leave you looking dull or flat. Due to its creamy nature, it gives a healthy, dewy glow…a look I am very partial too.
What I love about this product is that it is highly saturated. I’m not too worried about it drying out or leaking all over my makeup bag.
Cushion Blush Subtil is offered in four colours on the Sephora website, but apparently seven are offered in total. Sadly, I do not see them on the Lancôme website. I bought both of my products from Shoppers Drug Mart.
I give both of these Lancôme stars two big thumbs up – a high recommend! Have you tried these two products? If so, share your thoughts in the comments section!

Thank you! They are really nice and moisturizing! Thrilled that they don’t dry out my lips and the shade is so pretty. There is a really nice watermelon one that I think will complement your skin tone well also!
I LOVED Juicy Tubes! I guess I need to go pick up some Juicy Shakers now. Both products look gorgeous on you!

Awww! Thank you! My new camera has been the bomb. Totally – you should try out at least the Juicy Shakers! So fun!
I totally had to go out and buy myself a Juicy Shaker when they first launched. The packaging is just too cute, and I enjoy a good lip oil for those days where I don’t want to fuss. The color payoff seems to be really different from shade to shade, but generally they’re all pretty sheer. I have the shade Apri-cute which is a really bright orange that in actuality is really subtle on the lips.

Hey Lauren! You’re right about the colour pay off. The one I chose is pretty pigmented both in the packaging and on lips, but I have another (forgot the name) and it’s really subtle. Eitherway, I love them both! Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve debated about getting the shakers (they’re always so gross and messy in stores!) but they look so good! May have to look at getting one after all!
My Lancome shopping trip is so long and overdue! These shakers look like they’d be the perfect shade for any skin tone, they’re lovely! You look amazing too btw!
