Three Great Ways To Keep Your Hair Hydrated And Healthy – L’Oréal Paris Extraordinary Oil

My main struggle with my relaxed hair is dryness. The relaxer treatment itself is a harsh one as it breaks down the bonds of the hair in order to straighten out each strand. This makes it very prone to moisture loss which in turn causes breakage.

Over the years, I’ve tried a ton of hair products to keep the dryness at bay. Through trial and error, I’ve discovered that moisturizing shampoos and conditioners containing healthy oils are the best for keeping my hair soft, moisturized and breakage-free.

While shopping at Costco, I discovered L’Oréal Paris Extraordinary Oils Shampoo and Conditioner. I was attracted to these products because the label stated that they were formulated with six precious oils including argan oil and coconut oil. As I already use both of those oils to deep condition my hair on a weekly basis, I thought I’d give them a try. Both products also come in huge 1.18L bottles for a mere $18.99 for both, which is great as my husband always steals my hair products along with my two sisters when they visit. Sigh.

A few days ago, I tried both the shampoo and conditioner and was BLOWN AWAY. The shampoo cleaned my scalp and hair beautifully without stripping my strands. My hair felt soft, clean and ready for the conditioner.

A few days ago, I tried both the shampoo and conditioner and was BLOWN AWAY. The shampoo cleaned my scalp and hair beautifully without stripping my strands. My hair felt soft, clean and ready for the conditioner.

The conditioner was the all-star here, detangling my hair easily and leaving it incredibly soft and smooth. I was a happy girl!! After drying and styling my hair, it was also super shiny (shiny hair makes my heart skip a beat). I absolutely loved the results, including the fact my hair didn’t feel weighed down or greasy.

My sister has completely different hair from me.  With a head full of natural curls, she needs a shampoo that deep cleans. She also needs a conditioner strong enough to detangle her mass of curls, yet light enough to not cause build up. She was thrilled with the results and I bought her a set of the Extraordinary Oils Shampoo and Conditioner to take home.

So, these products were such a hit that I now incorporate them both into my hair routine. AND, since you guys love haircare tips, I thought I would share some of my best tips that I’ve learned over the years that have greatly increased my hair’s health. If you are struggling with your hair, try these out!

Deep Condition Your Hair Weekly

This is my Number #1 tip for healthy hair that EVERYONE should add to their hair routine: A weekly deep conditioning treatment.

Relaxed hair needs deep conditioner to moisturize hair and keep it tangle-free. You want tangle-free hair as over-manipulation of hair causes breakage.

A weekly deep conditioning treatment leaves all types of hair soft and healthy, and this in turn leads to better hair growth.

Those with fine hair should look for lighter deep conditioners, or apply your usual regular conditioner on your hair, but leave on for 30 minutes.

I look for nice, thick hair masks and usually add a little argan oil. Mix everything together, apply to hair after shampooing and leave on for about an hour. Rinse out, dry and style as usual.

Get A Good Trim Every 8 Weeks

When I sucked it up and started trimming my damaged, thin hair regularly AND deep-conditioning, my hair started to thrive!

Not only did it look more even and full, split ends were banished and my hair stopped breaking. It was a game-changer for me.

Now, I get about a quarter of an inch trimmed regularly to maintain my hair’s good health.

Like it or not, long hair that’s thin, wimpy and breaking isn’t a good look. Hair that’s a little shorter but lush and healthy is – you guessed it – a great look!

A Silk Pillowcase Is Your Best Friend

Cotton pillowcases will suck the moisture out of your hair while you sleep and cause frizziness. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a silk pillowcase.

Silk is soft and a bit slippery; therefore, eliminating friction while you “toss and turn” in bed. You will wake up with hair that is much smoother, shinier and easier to manage than if you slept on a cotton pillowcase.

Want to go one step further? Wrap up your hair before bed in a silk or satin headscarf. This will keep your hair protected and intact until morning. I wrap my hair each and every single night and oftentimes, my hair will need virtually no styling the following morning as it’s really protected overnight.

Bonus tip: silk pillowcases are also great for your skin! Your skin will be less dry and fine lines are generally reduced once you start using this face-friendly, luxe fabric.

If you do choose to try out L’Oréal Paris Extraordinary Oil Shampoo & Conditioner, let me know how it works for you! Personally, I love these products right down to their lovely scent. Also, they work just as well as my shampoos and conditioners that I’ve purchased at the salon, which is a major score!

Wishing you all healthy, happy hair!

Hi Denyzes! I bet the humidity down there does a number on your hair! If you have access to these products, you should try them. Really hydrating! Also, look for products that specialize in reducing frizz. Take care and thanks for reading!

Thank you for sharing this. I am African but I live here in the United States. I have been interested in your blogs about how I can take care of my hair. You are doing an awesome job. I’ll definitely try this product but I have a relaxed and very dried hair. I have tried so many relaxers but none seems to work well on my hair and I’m even thinking of cutting everything off now. What is the best relaxer that I can use on my hair?

Hi there! I’m sorry that you haven’t had much luck with the relaxers. They can be too harsh, indeed, but really – it’s the aftercare. Are you deep conditioning weekly? Moisturizing and sealing your hair nightly when it’s not flat ironed? What exactly is your routine? I use Silk Elements relaxer, but it doesn’t work for everyone…

I really appreciate you reading my blogs and watching my videos. Means so much! xo
