I have become a little obsessed with hair, thanks to the “hair journey” I’ve embarked on. Sick of breakage and my hair not growing as fast as I’d like it to, I started researching healthy hair tips like a hairstylist possessed.
Bond Girl Lipstick – Charlotte Tilbury | Liquid Eyeliner – Kat Von D| Coral Cove Blush – Milani | Sugar Stack Ring – Tiffany & Co. | Dapper Sheffield Watch – Daniel Wellington
I learned a lot thanks to YouTube hair vloggers, doing a little research on some of my favourite hair websites such as Hairlista and StyleCaster, and through good ol’, tried and true trial and error. I found that the key to healthy hair was keeping your hair moisturized, trimmed and clean, as all three prevent breakage and promote growth.
Through my quest to find the best hair products conducive to promoting hair health, I have tried seemingly millions of hair products over the past two years, but one set in particular really took me by surprise.
I am a diehard fan of Joico Moisture Recovery products and pretty much anything by Schwarzkopf. Nothing else has really come close to their moisturizing and detangling properties (other than beauty darling coconut oil) except for Eva NYC’s Clean It Up Shampoo and Soften Up Conditioner. WOW.
Both products feature Keravis Protein which apparently has been clinically proven to triple hair’s strength along with argan oil which is loaded with Vitamins A & E, along with ultra moisturizing fatty acids.
Since I had my hair relaxed (chemically straightened) a week ago, it was time to give my hair its protein treatment. Protein treatments in the form of protein-loaded deep conditioners are great for newly relaxed hair as it replaces the proteins that have been broken down during the relaxer process, thus leading to greater softness and less breakage. These two products couldn’t have come at a better time. I grabbed them and hit the shower.
I was a little worried upon using the shampoo as it left my hair feeling like I had just used a clarifying shampoo – that squeaky clean feeling sometimes makes me worry that a product has stripped my hair of moisture. My hair wasn’t tangled though and was easy to comb out! Trust me – that is a real feat after shampooing my ton of thick hair.
Next up, I stepped out of the shower for a couple of minutes and towel dried my hair gently. I coated my hair with the Soften Up Conditioner, grabbed my robe and made myself a cup of tea.
Ten blissful minutes passed while sipping tea and watching an old episode of The Hills, I was ready to wash out my hair while wondering what ever happened to Audrina Patridge. My hair felt like silk. SILK! I happy-danced in the shower while rinsing off, very pleased at the results of these two products.
Even better, my hair looked really shiny after towel-drying! I didn’t need to use as much of my trusty AG Detangling Mist as my hair either.
I give these two protein-rich products a big thumbs up! A lot of protein-laden hair products can leave your hair feeling dry and stripped, but Eva NYC’s Clean It Up Shampoo and Soften Up Conditioner delivered high-moisture results. Btw, both products are gentle enough to be used daily and are lightly scented of white musk and flowers, which I find beautiful.
My Canadian friends – good news! Eva NYC is launching at Costco Canada! So now, along with buying a crate of 100 bananas and 50lbs of peanut butter, you can get Eva NYC‘s great products!
My American buddies, head on over to Ulta, Anthropologie, Free People and Kohl’s and treat yourself to some of the EVA NYC line!
Healthy hair is huge. Try Loreal Paris Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE.
Great post. Love your review and pictures. Good products are a must.

I bought the shampoo and conditioner because of your post. I tried it yesterday, and I love the products. Will you only use these the week after a relaxer?

Hi Velda! I am so happy to hear that you got the products! They are truly great! I have a really heavy duty protein conditioner that I only use after relaxers. These ones by Eva NYC though are gentle enough for you to use more frequently. You can even use them daily, although I am a huge advocate of only washing your hair a maximum of twice a week. Hope that helps! xoxox
Thank you!
