The Game Changer Skincare Brand – La Roche-Posay

A box of goodies from La Roche-Posay (LRP) landed on my doorstep in the midst of both an acne breakout (screw you, Time Of The Month) and an eczema flare-up. Sigh. You know…how old do you have to be for the acne to stop? GAH!

I scooped up the box lovingly and got to testing – not that I had too. I know this stuff is good. I’ve been using this awesome French skincare line designed for sensitive skin for years now. And they just so happen to have one of the BEST lip balms on the market, but I’ll get to that in a second.

So, settle in, get cozy, and get prepared to get your skincare learnin’ on with this glowing review of some of my favourite LRP products.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Syndet AP+ Anti-Itching Lipid Replenishing, Soothing Body Cleansing Cream

Oooof…that product name is a mouthful, but oh so worth it. This cleansing cream is a supremely gentle and effective cleanser. It lathers beautifully and leaves your skin feeling soft and not stripped. This has become a favourite of mine, especially as I have amped up the running now that summer has finally rolled around.

A little goes a long way too, so this nice big bottle will last you a long time. And at $20.50, it’s a steal.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micellar Water Ultra for Oily Skin

Micellar Water Ultra (middle)

In true LRP fashion, the Micellar Water Ultra is very effective at removing dirt, makeup and oil, without stripping your face of its natural hydration. In fact, it always leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth.

It has a lovely, soft floral scent, and is very neutral and gentle when it comes to removing eye makeup. No stinging, burning and so on. Just gentle makeup and dirt removal, leaving your skin feeling refreshed.

This particular formulation is for oily skin, and after a week of using this morning and evening, I definitely noticed a reduction in the hyperactive oil production on my face, especially when used in conjunction with the Effaclar Mat Daily Moisturizer For Oily Skin, Anti-Shine, Anti-Enlarged Pores.

During this heat wave, I store mine in the fridge for extra cooling. So refreshing!!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Daily Moisturizer For Oily Skin, Anti-Shine, Anti-Enlarged Pores

The Effaclar Mat Daily Moisturizer is a great moisturizer for those looking to tame the greasies during the summer months. As promised, this gel-like formula dries down to a matte finish, leaving your pores looking noticeably smaller and skin looking more even overall.

This lightly fragranced moisturizer is also wonderful under foundations as it acts as a sort of light primer and it absorbs quickly.

Personally, I like the look of dewy skin all year round, and I would reach for this moisturizer during heat waves where my skin needs a little more oil control.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+ Anti-Itching Lipid Replenishing, Soothing Balm

Ooooh! This body moisturizer is SO GOOD!! WOW! I get mild eczema every now and then and this was a godsend. Thick and rich, it soothes dry, itchy skin instantly. Let me repeat, this balm is RICH, almost butter-like! Don’t get me wrong, though. It doesn’t sit on top of skin leaving you feeling tacky or goopy. Instead, it absorbs nicely into skin, leaving it dewy and ultra soft.

My sister visited and grabbed it from my bathroom. While walking away, she said: “I’m just going to borrow this for a second.” Nuh uhn!!! I tackled her and threatened her life if she ever touched it again. It’s that good, people. It’s that good.

This balm is fragrance-free and perfect for those with severely dry skin. I will be stocking up on this miracle balm again once the cold weather returns, when my skin inevitably dries out due to indoor heating.

La Roche-Posay Serozinc Purifying Mist, Anti-Shine, Anti-Dilated Pores

This product is amazing. Seriously. Think “blotting paper in a can”. I like to spray it on my face after applying makeup as it sets the look, making your makeup stay put for hours. It is also incredibly effective at regulating oil and diminishing the look of large pores.

The Serozinc formula is also very hydrating as it is rich in antioxidants. I packed mine on a recent trip to the spa to refresh my skin after a long hard day of relaxing in the warm, outdoor pools. Heaven!

La Roche-Posay Nutritic Lips

The Game Changer Skincare Brand - La Roche-Posay

LRP’s Nutritic Lips is easily one of my favourite lip balms of all time. Intensely hydrating, its really great to curb chapped lips in the winter, and protects your lippies from the harsh summer sun too.

It has a really nice, smooth feel, which I love. Never waxy or chunky, it always leaves my lips looking beautiful. I love the glossy formula too, which is great when you don’t feel like wearing lipstick but still want something a little sexy and pouty.

This lip balm looks opaque, but it goes on very sheer and is suitable for all skin tones. I wanted to stress this because as a dark-skinned woman, I have tried so many white lip balms that leave me looking like a corpse. Nutritic Lips highlights your natural lips’ colouring never leaving them looking ashy.

Have you had the pleasure of trying La Roche-Posay’s skincare? What’s your favourite?

*A huge thank you to La Roche-Posay for sending me these amazing press samples in exchange for my honest opinion!

I love their sunscreen! It’s mattifying and doesn’t smell like other sunscreens. Will have to try the micellar water.

I have eczema too, so I might want to add that moisturizer to my growing list of things I use every day.
