Why I’m Loving This $10 Nail Polish

I love myself a good manicure. Seriously. Nothing makes me happier than 10 beautifully manicured tips in a hot colour. Maybe it’s my esthetician roots or my girly-girlness. Whatever it is, perfect nails sing directly to my soul.

CND Vinylux Weekly Polish is so shiny and long-lasting, it's my new favourite!
Clockwise from top: Satin Pajamas, Rose Bud, Lilac Eclipse and Nude Knickers.

I’ve tried just about every nail polish on the planet, and I’m really digging this new brand of nail polish that rivals shellac and dip nails. CND’s Vinylux Weekly Polish pretty much fulfills all of my “awesome mani criteria”:

  1. It’s super shiny;
  2. It’s highly pigmented;
  3. It’s easy to remove; and
  4. It lasts a long time.

Chipped nails are upsetting at best, unless your Courtney Love, then it’s cool. Most of us aren’t trailblazing rockers though, so chipped polish shouldn’t be a “thing”. Chips drive me so nuts that I have trouble concentrating on anything other than picking off the rest of the nail polish! I know – very OCD, but it’s either perfect nails, or bare nails with me.

When I received CND‘s latest offerings for fall, including a beautiful selection of pale pinks and nudes, I got to testing immediately. I had just come off a summer of trying to grow out my acrylic-ravaged nails.

Now, I wouldn’t normally ever opt for acrylics (I just don’t like the look on me), but I just wanted to know what it would feel like to have Kylie Jenner hands for a week. I liked my coffin nails so much that I had them refilled. While the nail tech who applied them was awesome, I just couldn’t get around the nail thinning that acrylics cause, along with the terrible deep ridges left behind from having them ground off. That’s right. GROUND OFF. Sigh. My nails finally got healthy again and I wanted them to look pretty, so I got to polishing away.

CND’s Vinylux Weekly Polishes really delivered! The first polish I tried was “Rose Bud” – a fabulously rosy pink that goes with everything. The polish lasted a week no problem as promised, and probably would have lasted longer if I didn’t desperately want to try the amazing “Hypnotic Dreams” colour.

No UV lamps needed with this polish. Simply apply two coats and follow up with the CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat (this is a necessary step – don’t skip it). The polishes are very fast-drying (fully dry in 8.5 minutes) and offer a brilliant shine. There are over 100 colours to choose from too. LOVE IT!

Have you tried CND Vinylux Weekly Polish yet? If so, what is your favourite colour? Mine is a toss up between Hypnotic Dreams and Mercurial – a fabulous, glittering silver!

    I’ve heard a few great reviews about these nail polishes. I usually opt for gel nails at the salon since I have such weak nails that they break super easily if they’re not coated in something super thick. BUT these sound like a great alternative!

      Stephanie – I totally understand. These are a great alternative to protect your nails. Have you tried dip nails too? They are great and less harsh on your nails that gel nails.

    I actually own some Vinylux polishes but I don’t know where they are. I’ve been getting gels done quite often and my nails are hating me for it. I tend to get them done when I travel, but I’ve been traveling way too much lately. I think they need a breather.

      Hey Cheryl! Ok – I would get gels too each time I travelled or if I had a string of events, but I found them harsh too. My nails would get so thin and dry. I’m much preferring this polish… Have you tried dip nails?

      Hey! That’s ok!! Healthy nails are great nails! And that’s why I tried coffin nails too. Freaking Kylie Jenner! LMAO! Maybe try dip nails. A whole lot less harsh. xo
