Ahhh Avène! One of my favourite skincare brands is helping me look glowy for summer. Running. Ab workouts. Clean eating. Body scrubs…you name it, I’m doing it to get prepared for the best time of the year. A diehard, solar-powered sun worshipper, I take advantage of our short summers to have as much fun as I can outdoors. On top of the workouts, I get my skin in tip top shape for all the cute summer dresses, rompers and shorts that become favourites in my sunny wardrobe.
Skincare is a love of mine that I take pretty seriously. I moisturize like it’s my full-time job, and the thicker and richer the creams, the better. Don’t even come at me with that “fast-absorbing” wimpy stuff. I like the super creamy, thick and rich heavy hitters like the ones I’m about to review right now.
Avène Trixera Nutrition Nutri-Fluid Face and Body Cleanser
I’m going to start by saying that this is one of the top three cleansers I have ever used – and I’ve tried a lot. Thick and rich, it is the best cleanser I have ever used to remove stubborn makeup. I find most cleansers drying, leaving your face tight and ashy. Many aren’t very effective at removing eye makeup too, which is my true test of a cleanser’s worthiness.
This Trixera cleanser is truly stellar. By the way, it’s formulated as a body cleanser too! Score! It accompanies me to the gym for workouts as it does great double duty. It has a light, fresh, citrusy smell, and washes very cleanly. My skin never feels tight after using it which makes sense as it is specially formulated for dry to very dry skin. I noticed that dryness on my legs disappeared after a few days of using it also.
This formulation is soap-free and totally hypo-allergenic, so it is safe for those with sensitive skin. It lathers beautifully too. Hope you guys like bubbles!
Avène Trixera Nutrition Nutri-Fluid Face and Body Lotion
I really loved this thick and rich body lotion! I brought it along with me on my recent trip to New York City to test out. Just as well too as I forgot my makeup bag (SIGH!!!) which contained my beloved face cream. I used this lotion daily after showering from head to toe and it was beautiful.
Like I said, it’s nice and thick, yet felt light and comfortable on my face, but moisturized my skin effectively which usually tends to be on the dry side. It smells exactly like the cleanser mentioned above: light and refreshing. It was a pleasure to use first thing in the morning.
This lotion was so good, such a crowd pleaser, that my cutie cousin Danielle swiped it. I can’t blame her.
Avène Trixera Nutrition Nutri-Fluid Face and Body Balm – Fragrance-Free
This lotion is a gem just like its fragranced counterpart and is an excellent choice for those with dry to very dry, sensitive skin. A fragrance-free formula, it is comfortable, creamy and effective. Non-oily, this balm may be a better choice for those who actually prefer a light, more fast-absorbing option to the fragranced version. This cream features Sélectiose (which reduces skin reactions and speeds up cell turnover).
In addition, this version would be a great option for all members of the family including toddlers.
Avène After-Sun Repair Creamy Gel
I think it should be mandatory for all humans to own this gel. After gardening for hours last weekend in the sun, I took a shower and slathered this all over. Bonus tip: place it in the fridge for a nice cool-down treat.
This product really cools a sunburn, greatly diminishes peeling, and prolongs a golden glow. Light and creamy, this gel offers an immediate cooling effect, restores the skin’s barrier and prevents moisture loss. It’s non-greasy and fast-absorbing too, which is nice if you have a bit of a burn. Best of all, for a gel, its really moisturizing, maybe due to all of that great Avène Thermal Spring Water that comprises most of this formulation. Definitely one of my favourite summer skincare products.

My sister lives in France but works in Switzerland and i LOOOOOVE Avene. She has to smuggle it for me into the states because it’s not sold here but whenever she visits she brings me lots of avene moisturizer and Bioderma micellar water lol
