Inspired by our latest photoshoots together, my friend Emilie and I decided to switch it up from outdoor locations and take things inside. Emilie, with her keen eye for fashion and architecture suggested Smudge Beauty Bar, a relatively new spa which opened in Ottawa last year on Dalhousie Street…home to many an up and coming boutique.
Smudge Beauty Bar is bright and airy with a nice mix of cool, modern loft and cozy hangout space perfect for an afternoon of manis and pedis with friends. Warm and cozy, Smudge is decorated with succulents, hanging plants, a stunning turn of the century tin ceiling and a loft space over looking the nail bars and hair styling space. Flooded with light, it’s inviting and homey.
Owners Mark Mignault and Inaas Kiryakos (who also happens to own Milk Shop – your one-stop shop for anything cool) offer a myriad of services at Smudge from waxing to lash extensions (full list of services here). Mark, a handsome and stylish fella with a perfectly groomed beard, admitted that he had stalked the space at 223 Dalhousie Street for years before taking the plunge and grabbing it when it became available. Clearly, the years-long wait was well worth it.
