I have traveled a lot over the years with trips to Peru, Australia and Costa Rica being among my favourites. One thing I’ve learned from travelling other than always book an aisle seat, back everything up (passports, visas, etc.) and always pack a scarf, is to travel comfortably. That’s where Sympli Clothing comes in.
“Airport style” was something that I never gave much thought too. I mean, is one really expected to look great during layovers? Should one stranded in an airport waiting for a connection to complete an 18-hour flight look like she stepped off the runway? Maybe she doesn’t have to look like she’s going to the Met Gala, but looking put together certainly helps during those airport headaches.
I learned this when I caught a glimpse of myself in a bathroom mirror at the Miami airport. My flight arrived late and we sat on the tarmac forever. As the temperature in the plane rose, I started sweating like it was my full time job. When I finally made it into the airport, I was dishevelled, rumpled and tired. My stretched out track pants didn’t help, but instead gave off an air of “I don’t care” as opposed to “I’ll be shopping at Bal Harbour in precisely one hour”. That was it. For once, I wanted to arrive somewhere looking fresh and stylish and made a mental note to burn those track pants.
Sympli’s Philosophy
I first discovered Sympli clothing during a fashion show at Shepherd’s Fashions. Clothing from this Canadian line is comfortable and chic, and came in a variety of colours that compliment anyone. I spotted some awesome loose pants with fitted ankles that would be perfect for travelling. Those pants would be the perfect addition to my capsule wardrobe.
Upon completing a little research, I discovered that Sympli’s clothing is designed and manufactured in BC. Founder Jan Stimpson’s goal was to create a line flattering for women of all shapes, sizes and ages that was comfortable and fit perfectly. She succeeded. I’m now the proud owner of those supremely comfy and stylish Sympli pants along with a head-turning fringed skirt and the most perfect cold-shoulder top (you’ll see these in upcoming blog posts).
My Sympli Travel Style
In these pics, I’m modelling my Pivot Pants. Made of the softest jersey material, they do not wrinkle at all and look great with everything. For my train ride to Toronto, I paired them with a light cashmere mock turtleneck, a wool coat, a cute hat and my Stan Smith’s for extra comfort. It was such a breath of fresh air to arrive at my destination feeling chic yet comfy. Travel style goals…travel style goals, indeed.
