How To Nail A Holiday Party Look – Concept @ Sears Canada

Look at this little sparkling dress! It was love at first sight when I spotted it in Sears Canada’s new Concept Shop-in-Shop. I was on the hunt for an eye-catching number for an upcoming holiday party and this golden sparkler stopped me in my tracks. The lace, the sequins, the shimmering gold colour, the pretty scalloped details…it was too much…too good!

Luckily for me, it fit perfectly, as if it was made for me. I was instantly sold. And why not? At $59.99, I couldn’t go wrong.

Holiday seasons past,  I’ve been a victim of “Dress Panic” – an infectious fever that afflicts many women this time of year. The infection causes women to head to stores in droves in a last minute blind panic, looking for that perfect dress only to come up empty. Dress Panic usually causes sufferers to end up settling for frocks that are blah, boring and ill-fitting. The best remedy for Dress Panic? Shopping the new Concept Shop-in-Shop at Sears Canada.

Concept is a new Shop-in-Shop featuring great must-have looks at prices you’ll love. Available now in 20 select stores, the shop-in-shop boasts stylish, on-trend separates that are fun to mix and match, and leave you feeling great. On top of that, the Concept Shop-in-Shop has some amazing dresses to get you right through the holiday season to New Year’s Eve.

Here are my best tips to immunize yourself from Dress Panic:

Bye Felicia!! Kiss A Bad Dress Goodbye

Kiss ill-fitting dresses goodbye – right now. There is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable because the dress you are wearing is too short, too low cut, too itchy, or just plain old doesn’t fit right. Feeling confident and comfortable in your clothing makes you feel great…and look beautiful too.

If You Love It, Buy It

There is a reason why you “hmmmm”, ummmm” and “huhhhhhh” over a dress. You don’t *love* it. Your instinct will tell you when you find that perfect piece. If you love it, get it! If you don’t and need to sleep on it, and you’re still thinking about it the morning after? Time to run back and get it.

Get Inspired

Pinterest is my best friend. When I’m looking to get inspired, I hit up Pinterest and start pinning winning looks to my secret Pinterest board. I refer to it regularly to get the creative juices flowing before hitting the stores to look for that perfect dress or outfit. You wouldn’t believe how much this has helped me over the years to build a wardrobe of pieces I truly love as it helps me pinpoint things I truly want, yet identifies looks that in theory, look great, but just aren’t. I’m looking at you, Mr. Itchy Sequinned Pants.

Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize

So, you’ve found that great dress. Now, how do you really make it shine? Great accessories! Steer clear of the super trendy and opt for classic pieces in gold and silver. They will transcend well from day to night and jewelry such as a great gold bangle or bright, silver necklace will really highlight a great outfit. Don’t forget cute clutches and bags. I wanted something fun for the score I found at Sears Canada and chose a fun lucite clutch, but the gold pumps really do the dress justice. Not only can I wear them with this dress, they will look great with a casual outfit such as pair of boyfriend jeans paired with a navy blazer.

A huge thank you to Sears Canada for sponsoring this post in exchange for my honest opinion.

      Hi Cheryl!

Thank you so much! That is the lovely National Art Gallery in our city. It is indeed beautiful! You should see the end of this hall – just stunning! A very popular wedding venue here. Thanks for the kind words! Glad that the hair journey and slaving at the gym is paying off! LOL!
