Spring Bling at Merivale Vision Care is taking place this Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4-8pm and I AM CLEARING MY CALENDAR. I cannot wait for this annual charitable event because well, I’m addicted to awesome eyewear.
Each year, Merivale Vision Care hosts a killer trunk show featuring amazing sunglass and eyewear brands. The best part of this fun, label-filled event is that a portion of the proceeds raised from this party benefit Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind. To date, Merivale Vision Care has sponsored the training of four guide dogs. This is pretty impressive as training costs surpass well over $10,000 a pup.
Featured eyewear brands up for grabs on May 11th are Eco, Kate Spade, Tommy Hilfiger and Dior. Merivale Vision Care has the biggest selection of designer frames in the city too, so please come on down to the party and treat yo’ self.
Last week, I swung by the clinic to check out the latest offerings. I’ve been seeing golden aviator eyewear frames all over the magazines along with awesome cat eye frames. I picked up two pairs to try out and I’m hooked.
Dior Cat-Eye Frames
My girlfriend Amy showed up to a spa event a little while ago wearing the most beautiful Dior cat eye glasses. They were ladylike and uber stylish, and I wanted them. I have been meaning to replace my tired Gucci reading glasses that looked dated and were frankly, uncomfortable. Her beautiful Diors were on the larger side and angled upwards at the corners beautifully.
When I got to Merivale Vision Care, I made a beeline to those pretty Dior frames and nabbed them to test them out at home. While they have a presence, they are light and comfortable. Their matte black frames trimmed in gold complemented everything I wore them with too. Sigh. Gorgeous.
Starck Gold Aviators
Ok – these glasses ARE MY JAM. I took one look at them and had to have them. Now, I’m not cool enough to wear this style, but just for one day, I wanted to look and feel like Rick Ross. You know, because everyday I’m hustlin’!
Large aviator eyeglasses have hit the scene in a big way. All over the runways, they are the must-have eyeglass style of 2017. So much so, the latest Snapchat filter is a cool pair of big, silver aviators.
These Starck frames are so damn cool, but I’m not surprised. They were created by design genius Philippe Starck. I showed them to my hair stylist Michal at Hair Republic Beauty Lounge and her jaw dropped. Everybody’s jaw drops when they see these glasses. Even my husband thought they were awesome…and his idea of “fashion awesome” is a simple navy suit.
I had my bangs trimmed by Michal and she added some neon yellow hair chalk to the layers framing my face. I felt très cool that day, so I decided to take the Starck’s for a spin to complete my bomb-ass look.
There are more great eyewear styles (tons!) at Merivale Vision Care, so please join us on Thursday evening to see all of the offerings! Confirm your attendance here – more information within the Facebook invite. Remember – looking like a baller is one set of frames away…
*Thank you for the lovely vintage robe, Granny. I love you always.
