Style Domination Beauty Haul March 2015!

Hi all!

I bought some really great beauty products this month that I want to share with you.  Here goes!

First off, I have been chasing after Butter London’s The Black Knight nail polish since my trip to Toronto a few weeks ago.  Finally snagged it as Nordstrom.  It is a multi-coloured glitter polish with a black base.  I achieved a nice opaque finish with three coats.

The Black Knight

Sorry – I know the pics above don’t do this justice, so here is an amazing shot of the polish from the Ommorphia Beauty Bar blog.  This is exactly how this polish looks under the sun:

Now, I actually bought this limited edition Guerlain Météorites Perles du Paradis a few months ago.  I have been using it a lot lately as a finishing powder.  It is so great, I had to review it.  The pearls are pale pink, dark pink, lavender, silver, and champagne.  I was worried when I finally received it as the pearls were pretty pale, but it’s gorgeous on and goes on very translucently.  It leaves a subtle sparkle and best of all, smells completely amazing (violets).

Meteorites

I found this amazing Guerlain lipstick on a trip to Montréal last fall with my sister Alice.  I didn’t buy it then because I tend to waffle over every single purchase I make – lol!  I kept thinking about it though, so I picked it up the last time I was at Nordstrom.  It is Guerlain Rouge Automatique Rouge d’Enfer (loose translation: Hell Fire!!) #121 – Strawberry Red.  I get so many compliments on this red.  It’s pretty moisturizing, lasts forever and like all Guerlain products, smells amazing.  A+++

Here it is on – I paired it with Chanel Amber Foundation (discontinued – le sigh), MAC Raizin blush, MAC concealer and Diorshow Blackout mascara.

This is probably my favourite lipstick of all time, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Antigone #60.  It’s very sheer on me so I can put it on easily without a mirror, super moisturizing, and a really interesting shade of red.  The pic does not do it justice.  I would describe it as a red with a lot of rusty orange tones.

And lastly, I included this Donna Karan Cashmere Mist antiperspirant/deodorant that I picked up using points at Shoppers Drug Mart.  I absolutely LOVE this stuff.  It is pricey at $27, but smells beautiful.  I generally hate all deodorants sold at drugstores because I don’t like the fragrances.  I find them really cloying and synthetic-smelling.  I personally never want to smell like Island Margarita, mainly because it conjures up memories of terrible bars that smell like stale booze.  LOL!  To each their own though. Donna Karan’s best-selling perfume, Cashmere Mist is very soft and has notes of lily of the valley, suede, bergamot, ylang ylang, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, orris, cedar, patchouli and musk.  I find it smells “sexy”.  LOVE IT.

So, that’s it for this month.  Any favourites of yours you see on this list?  Anything on your wishlists?  Please share!

xo,

I like the nail polish! Question, is that deodorant/antiperspirant anything like hypo allergenic? Need something that actually works, but doesn’t irritate. I like that you are saying it doesn’t have that you are saying it doesn’t have that synthetic smell to it. Makes me itch.

Hey there! No – it’s not hypoallergenic, and frankly, while the fragrance is described as “soft”, it’s still quite strong. I was worried that I wouldn’t like it, but I love it now. The list of ingredients is on the Sephora website. It contains all the same stuff as other antiperspirants, so if you are sensitive, you may want to try a sample first…I hope that helps!

Thank you! Sensitive yes. Getting to the point I can’t use anything that has perfumes and dyes in it. I will look that up, they might have something else that doesn’t even if that one does.

Awww – so sorry to read that. I would think you might find this one irritating. Never know though…can’t hurt to give it a sniff and read the ingredient listing…

I’ve never tried the Butter polishes-but always wanted to. Super pretty! Oooh, Guerlain. I need to try 🙂

You won’t believe the Guerlain quality. Their lip glosses are so smooth and creamy, it’s ridiculous. Well worth the expense. As for Butter London, they have really cool colours. I’m not sold on the quality though.

I love the hat you are wearing! I wish I could get away with wearing hats, I just end up looking all silly!

    • March 31, 2015 / 9:21 am

Thank you for your kind words! I felt the exact same way about hats (baseball caps look ridiculous on me) until I found styles that suited my face well. Had to try hundreds, but I finally found some that I like!!

These all look amazing. I love the lipstick colors you have. I’ve never tried London Butter polish and keep meaning to, so I think I will start with the shade you have. I love it.

The Chanel lipstick looks great on you, actually doesn’t look like you’re wearing anything. Almost like your lips are just really healthy is that makes any sense haha!

Thanks! Haha! It’s true. It’s my crappy camera and lighting though. Promise, you would notice in person. Mental note: buy better camera. Thanks again, Mona!
