SD Beauty Review: Lise Watier’s Spring 2017 Collections – Rouge Intense Suprême and Blossom Beauty

I have been a fan of Lise Watier for a long time now, ever since my mother-in-law gave me a bottle of Lise Watier’s Gatineau perfume. Soft and light, the milky perfume doubled as a moisturizer, and 23-year-old me (yes – I’ve known my husband for a long, long time) thought that it was the coolest product. A few bottles of Neiges and Frisson Neiges later, I’m still a fan. I also love the fact that this luxurious cosmetic company is French Canadian, founded in Montreal in 1972 by Ms. Watier herself. Do yourself a favour and google Lise Watier. She is clearly doing something right as she is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve never dabbled in Lise Watier‘s cosmetics until now (some beauty blogger), and I’ve clearly been missing out. With some of the most rich, moisturizing lipsticks out there and highly pigmented eyeshadows as part of her collection, I’m glad that I finally have some of these pretty products in my beauty arsenal. A sucker for gorgeous packaging too, I’m proud to pull out a sleek Lise Watier lipstick out of my handbag. Simple pleasures!

This beauty review will be focusing of two of Lise Watier‘s Spring 2017 collections: Rouge Intense Suprême Lipsticks and Blossom Beauty 24 HRS Glam Eyeshadows, Feline Liquid Liner HD and Bicolor Lipstick.

Rouge Intense Suprême Lipsticks

First of all, these lipsticks look beautiful. With their magnetic, gunmetal-coloured cases, I truly love pulling these out of my purse. Intensely pigmented, rich and hydrating, they are easy to apply and feel wonderful on (no dryness or cracking). The lipsticks are infused with Labrador Tea – a concoction enjoyed by the Athabascan and Inuit People, and rich in skin-loving antioxidants.

Rouge Intense Suprême Lipstick in Caroline

My two favourite colours from the Rouge Intense Supreme collection are Caroline and Brooklyn. Deep, dark and sexy, Caroline would be my go-to for a night on the town, dressing up my favourite “off-duty-model” look of leather moto jacket, ripped jeans and boyfriend tee, or a fancy dinner with the darling husband. The colour is intensely pigmented with a light, glossy effect and left my lips feeling very hydrated. Lasted for hours…made me very happy!

My second favourite is Brooklyn. I mean, if it’s called Brooklynit has to be cool. Like the New York borough, Brooklyn is a cool and full of energetic vibes. On me, it’s a lovely dark fuchsia that made me ooh and ahh when I applied it, and then oooh and ahhh some more. Like all of the lipsticks in this collection, it is super creamy, lightly glossy, very hydrating and lasted for hours.

Kelly

Kelly is a pretty, pinky-brown neutral that is so “me”. I have already made good use of this lipstick as it is the perfect neutral for my skin tone. For the fairer types, Kelly is a deep and flattering rosy-brown.

Daphne

Daphne is a pretty toffee brown colour that I’ll be reaching for on the regular. Another perfect neutral brown – lightly glossy and universally flattering.

Jade

Ooooh mama! Jade is one hot tamale. A bright, fun, orangey-red, Jade is my idea of a perfect pop of colour. I love how this shade plays off my dark skin. This red would be gorgeous on fair blondes too (think January Jones) and golden skin tones like Jennifer Lopez’s.

The collection is comprised of 15 lipsticks, so I’m sure you will find something perfect from crimson reds to pale nudes.

Blossom Beauty Collection

Limited Edition Bicolor Lipstick in Blushing Glow

I loved this dual colour, candy pink lipstick! With its perfect proportions of frost and gloss, this gives your lips brightness and depth without having to use two different shades of lipstick. It gave my lips a really cool ombré effect with its two complementary colours. It’s hard for me to find a great pink lipstick, and this one fell right into my lap. The colour is so pretty and its cool undertones brightened my whole face. Like the Rouge Intense Suprême Lipsticks, this was easy to apply and felt nice and comfortable to wear, and the colour payoff was great. LOVE THIS! The Bicolor Lipstick is also available in Naked Glow.

24 HRS Glam Eyeshadow – $23

I tested Urban Velours, Ivory Velours and Petal Velours and they were lovely. Three very light colours for my skin tone, I used these mainly as highlighters on my brow bone. Ivory Velours would be perfect on the waterline too to open up and make eyes pop. These shadows are highly pigmented, very easy to apply as the formulation is nice and soft, but they do not budge. Incredibly long-lasting, these eyeshadows would survive swimming or a good crying jag. While waterproof, the eyeshadows are very easy to blend as soon as you put them on, but work quickly before they set.

Féline Eyeliner HD in Charbon – $22

I LOVED THIS EYELINER! With its long felt tip, cat eyes were a breeze. And for once, I have found the Holy Grail of liquid eyeliners: a truly matte black colour, not shiny like sooo many others which in turn reflects too much light and makes me look like I’m wearing grey eyeliner. I loved this so much. This stays put too so you may need some good eye makeup remover to take it off.

I would like to know if I could get some advice on Lisa Watier Arabesque Trio Illuminating Powders ? It’s from a 2016 Holiday Collection I believe & bought it the other day because I wanted a lighter Illuminating Blush. But I would like to know how it’s to be applied as was told how the 3 are used separately but from what I’ve been reading on some websites they mention as using 3 together. I’d appreciate any help.I could get on tis. Thank You.

Hi Maxine! I think you can wear all three easily and separately. It would help to know what your complexion is (fair, medium or dark). If wearing separately, I would choose a colour based on your other makeup that you are wearing, especially lipstick and shadows.

The lightest colour, a soft champagne, could double as a cheek and browbone highlighter. For the brow bone, I would take a fluffy eyeshadow brush and sweep a small amount on your brow bone as a subtle highlight. This opens up the eyes. For the cheeks, I would take a small, fluffy blush brush and sweep over the tops of your cheeks to further accentuate the roundness of your cheeks and give you healthy glow. I would also sweep a small amount on your chin, tip of your nose and small amount on the centre of your forehead (use a light touch!!). Apply it wherever the sun would naturally hit your face.

The centre colour, the peachy gold, I would use the same way, but with a light hand to prevent muddiness or disco-ball-yness. LOL! The pinkest of the colours, I would use on the apples of the cheeks to highlight the rounds of the apples of your cheeks and give you a nice, pinky glow. You may also use on the tops of your cheeks.

This is how I would use these products. Feel free to mix them up too, but if you do, use a light hand as you will be depositing a lot of product onto your brush and you don’t want to end up looking like a shimmering clown.

The great thing about Lise Watier’s products is that they are buildable – so start gradually until you reach your desired look. Hope that helps!!! xoxoxo

Thank you so much for your help in such a quick response. I so appreciate it. I have a fair complexion with high cheek bones . I’ll try the techniques you suggested. Thanks again. Maxine
