Well, MAC Cosmetics…I want to thank you for making the most perfect red lipstick in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. Proud To Be Canadian is the most perfect true red I’ve ever seen. It immediately made the cut for my Canada Day beauty look.
If you’re anything like me – a super proud Canadian who’s terribly excited for Canada’s upcoming 150th birthday – you’re probably solidifying your Canada Day plans right now. I’ve got mine set in stone and I’m counting down the days! Ottawa expects upwards of half a million people visiting Parliament Hill on Canada Day (July 1st), and there are so many awesome festivities leading up to the big day!
I’ll be hitting up my bestie’s annual blowout Canada Day bbq. Yep, in true fashion/beauty blogger fashion, I have my instagrammable outfit and makeup already picked out. I got a super cute, little red dress and I’ll be wearing MAC Cosmetics Proud To Be Canadian red lipstick alllll day long.
Proud To Be Canadian is a true red. This formulation is very matte and pops beautifully on my dark skin. This red is highly flattering and I’m thinking incredibly beautiful on all skin tones. MAC Cosmetics matte lipsticks are among some of my favourites on the market, and Proud To Be Canadian delivers. It is very pigmented (a little goes a long way). While matte, it doesn’t dry out your lips (tip: apply MAC’s Prep + Prime lipstick base under matte lippies for extra moisturization), and the colour stays put without bleeding. It’s seriously perfect. This formulation is comfortable to wear too. It never leaves your lips feeling dried out and cakey.
I’ve included a few shots of this red lip lipstick on me to give a sense of how it looks on my medium-dark skin tone:
The Proud To Be Canadian Collection consists of a special edition makeup bag ($20.00 – exclusively available to MAC Select Members only), along with an awesome tote bag ($28.00). All items will be available in store and online on June 22nd. MAC Cosmetics, by the way, is a proud Canadian company that has been around since 1984. A makeup artistry phenomenon, MAC Cosmetics had their start in a small Toronto salon to being sold in over 150 countries worldwide. Us Canadians – we know how to do it up. Well done, MAC.
Are you a proud Canadian? How will be you be celebrating Canada Day? Let me know in the comments!
*Thanks to MAC Cosmetics for the press samples in exchange for my honest opinion.
