Here we have Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage® City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask and Prevage® City Smart Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50 Lotion. Both couldn’t have come at a better time. I used up most of my Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Moisture Lotion SPF 30 during my last trip to Barbados. I also burned my poor nose on the beach and looked like a koala for a few weeks. Since that traumatic experience, I have buckled down and taken extra care in whipping my skin back into shape.

Upon receiving this delightful little skincare package, I immediately got to testing. The one thing my skin needed now was extra hydration. Thanks for hearing my plea, Skincare Gods!

Elizabeth Arden Prevage® City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask

So, my skin took a hit in Barbados because I didn’t heed my own advice. You know how it goes. You touch down somewhere tropical, they hand you a rum punch and all your sense flies out the window. Well, with that sense went months of great skin. I came back a sunburned mess (the second time in my life that I’ve gotten a sunburn) and I’m still paying for it. My poor koala nose has cleared up, but my skin is still feeling dry and peeling in some spots. Sigh.

Out comes the Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask! This product is geared towards maximum skin detox. With its power list of ingredients including a ton of antioxidants and botanical blend, this peel-off mask removes surface toxins that have built up over time. After lathering on a good amount to your skin, it peels away dirt and oil and assists the skin by speeding up its natural detoxification. Key ingredients include Idebenone (world’s most powerful antioxidant), blueberries, goji berries and cranberries to beat skin-damaging pollutants. In addition, this product contains a special polymer been which promises to lift away dirt leading to a brighter, smoother complexion. Tree mushroom extract is an effective astringent which further minimizes pores and a blend of broccoli (crazy!), Bioflavonoids (antioxidant) and aloe works to boost skin’s detoxification system.

A smooth gel, this product works by using gentle exfoliation. My interest was piqued at its claim to reduce your pore size. My pores have grown to dish plate-size after my sunburn, and I’m happy to try anything to reduce them.

Well, this Peel Off Mask was certainly fun to use! Thick and gooey, I applied a very generous amount to my face, being careful to avoid my hairline, eye area and lips. Instructions state use twice a week and to leave on for 20 minutes at a time. For the first five minutes or so, I felt a light tingling sensation which eventually subsided. I peeled off the mask after 20 minutes and my skin definitely looked clearer, brighter and was much smoother. I tell ya, I love myself a good peel off mask, and this delivered. Half the fun was peeling it off. The other half? Gorgeous skin.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage® City Smart Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50 Lotion

I truly believe that Elizabeth Arden’s sunscreens are the best out there. As a black person, it was really hard to find a sunscreen that didn’t leave a greyish-purple cast on my medium-dark skin. After a long bout of trial and error, it’s Elizabeth Arden for the win….by a landslide.

On top of leaving no greyish cast, Arden’s sunscreens are highly moisturizing yet non-greasy. I have never experienced any breakouts or other types of adverse reactions. I couldn’t think of a better product to protect my skin under the sun’s rays.

The Prevage® City Smart Broad Spectrum Sunscreen Lotion promises to protect your skin from UV rays and environmental pollution. This product was developed by chemists and dermatologists with a special DNA Enzyme Complex to strengthen skin too. Like the peel off mask, this lotion also contains Idebenone (that powerful antioxidant) which keeps skin looking clear and healthy.

It also features “Triple Action Protection” technology to:

• protect skin from harmful toxins and pollution through its 100% mineral broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen;
• prevent the future signs of aging (fine lines/wrinkles and hyper pigmentation); and

I have been using this sunscreen for the past week on a daily basis and it’s a really nice daily moisturizer. Makeup applies easily after using this lotion – everything stays put. No sliding right off my face by midday. It also has a light fresh scent (that reminds me of the beach) which dissipates quickly. So far, so good!

The Verdict

These skincare products are a big ol’ “RECOMMEND”. I really love the Elizabeth Arden brand. The products are top notch and the Elizabeth Arden’s Prevage® City Smart Double Action Detox Peel Off Mask and Prevage® City Smart Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 50 Lotion are no exceptions. The peel off mask was great! It left my face feeling super clean and hydrated, and the sunscreen easily made my list of best products of 2017.
